In brief
A passerby found a dead body on the bank of a pond near a temple and informed the police. The post-mortem showed death by hemorrhagic shock with numerous bleeding wounds all over the body, and the homicidal nature of the death was established beyond dispute. The deceased had been brought up by PW1 and her husband and was said to have been turned out of their house. PW1 (the wife of a co-accused who absconded) and PW2 were initially declared hostile and thereafter deposed to having seen the absconding accused and the appellant, their son-in-law, assaulting the deceased; PWs 2 to 4 also spoke of the assault, though nobody intervened.…
