The respondent, a Nigerian national, was arrested by the DRI in March 2023 after 4,935 grams of heroin, carried by a courier intercepted at Mumbai airport, was traced to him through a co-accused who was to collect the consignment on his instructions; WhatsApp chats and statements showed he directed the pick-up. He had already been convicted in an earlier NDPS case by the Patiala House Court and was out on bail from the Delhi High Court when this offence occurred.…
